The past week and a half has been pretty insane -- from arriving in NYC to going to Denver, CO for the Expeditionary Learning National Conference to arriving back in Northampton to see friends and return to work (I am subbing for an Assistant Principal at my old school).

Glad to see Renaissance getting the good word it deserves!
Also, tomorrow, we fly to Lukla to start the three passes trek – which will take us a little over 20 days – so we will be out of touch again for awhile…. we are hoping we get some good views and some sweet tea and probably more dal bhat than we can wish for (though I do love the tibetan bread and momos!)

but then, from there, who knows what I will be doing…. the plan will evolve I am sure. I have had moments of definitely missing home and my community, but glad to be pushing myself out here!

This blog is dedicated to my crew and all my students at the amazing Springfield Renaissance School!
Last night was our second graduation. Second year of 100% college acceptance. I am so proud of our accomplishments and so proud to be a founding teacher at this school. As I tell my crew of my travels, I hope that they will travel with me next year.
Each day, I ask of my students to dig deep, think deep, question the world, each other and to push themselves. Now it is time that I do the same.
In the letter I wrote to my crew, I included this Mark Twain quote which speaks to me and is what I hope my crew learns from my adventures next year!
